In this 1930s apartment, I was responsible for the complete interior renovation with the goal of creating a distinctive, character-filled home in the heart of Arroios.

The design brief was twofold: to stage the apartment in a way that enhanced its historical charm while making it especially appealing to younger buyers—namely digital nomads and young professionals drawn to the energy of this neighbourhood.

I reimagined the interior with a modern, loft-inspired identity. A mezzanine was introduced in the living area, and an original brick wall was exposed to add height, warmth, and architectural interest. The layout was reconfigured for functionality and flow, incorporating custom storage solutions and integrated wardrobes throughout.

Crucially, I ensured that every room received natural light. By altering the kitchen and bathroom layout, I maximized existing window placement and introduced a more intuitive spatial experience. I was also able to add windows to every room, including a skylight above the shower—bringing daylight into the heart of the bathroom.

Despite structural and budgetary constraints, the final result blends heritage and modern comfort, with features like a fully equipped kitchen and AC pre-installation.

The design emphasizes simplicity, openness, and ease of living—tailored to a younger urban demographic seeking character and convenience in Lisbon’s vibrant Arroios district.
