Nestled in the historic heart of Lisbon’s iconic Alfama district, this pre-18th-century apartment held centuries of history within its 75 square meters—but it had fallen into severe disrepair after decades without a remodel. Our mission was to breathe new life into the neglected space, modernizing it for contemporary living while fiercely protecting its authentic soul and historic charm.

The original, fractured layout presented several design challenges, including an awkward connection between the kitchen and bathroom, and an interior room completely cut off from the sun. We completely reimagined the footprint to maximize functionality, introducing clever, hidden storage solutions and redefining the spatial flow.
To solve the lack of windows in the interior room, we implemented a specialized lighting design that beautifully replicates the warmth and ambiance of natural daylight, completely transforming the energy of the space. Outside, we turned the private patio into a lush, green sanctuary—a true urban oasis perfect for chilling.

For the interior design and staging, our goal was to evoke the nostalgic essence of Alfama without falling into predictable clichés. Instead, we blended the historic architecture with a fresh, modern perspective, infusing the home with a light, colorful, and vibrant energy. Every piece was chosen to maintain a deeply warm and cozy atmosphere that feels both deeply rooted in Lisbon and effortlessly contemporary.

The market response was immediate. Designed to captivate buyers, the property was snapped up and sold in less than one month. The ultimate testament to the design? The new owner fell in love with the curated aesthetic and purchased the apartment completely furnished, down to the very last detail.
